ATH is filled to reduce the concentration of flammable polymer. The water vapor released by ATH dehydration dilutes the concentration of flammable gas and oxygen to prevent combustion
Flame retardant mechanism of ATH:
1. Dilution: ATH is filled to reduce the concentration of flammable polymer. The water vapor released by ATH dehydration dilutes the concentration of flammable gas and oxygen to prevent combustion;
2. Endothermic effect: dehydration and heat absorption at 300~350 °C, inhibiting the temperature rise of the polymer;
3. Carbonization: Flame retardants produce strong dehydrating substances under burning conditions, which are carbonized by plastics and are not prone to flammable volatiles, thereby preventing flame spread.
4. Coverage: after ATH dehydration, an Al2O3 protective film is formed on the surface of the combustible material to block oxygen and prevent further combustion.
