Anthraquinone hydrogenation catalyst

Feb. 24, 2023

Anthraquinone hydrogenation catalysts mainly include two kinds of nickel catalysts and palladium catalysts.

Nickel catalysts have excellent selectivity and activity and very little degradation, but they have problems such as easy spontaneous combustion when the catalyst meets air, complicated reactor structure and difficult to regenerate after catalyst deactivation, which have been gradually eliminated.

Palladium catalyst is widely used in the preparation of hydrogen peroxide by anthraquinone method because of its high activity and excellent selectivity, strong anti-poisoning property, easy regeneration and recycling. The production of hydrogen peroxide using palladium catalysts is divided into two processes, fixed-bed and fluidized-bed, according to the form of reactor.

Anthraquinone method is the mainstream method of producing hydrogen peroxide at home and abroad. The production process of this method is as follows:

In the presence of catalyst, at a certain temperature and pressure, the alkyl anthraquinone (hereinafter referred to as anthraquinone) in the working solution (organic solution made of alkyl anthraquinone and mixed organic solvent in a certain ratio) reacts with hydrogen to produce the corresponding hydrogen anthraquinone, and the working solution is called hydrogenation solution. The hydrogenation solution reacts with oxygen to produce the original anthraquinone and hydrogen peroxide, while the hydrogenation solution becomes the oxidation solution, and the oxidation solution is extracted by pure water to get the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution.
