How to choose the compressor in synthesis ammonia plant?

Feedstock gas / syngas compressor is the key equipment of synthesis ammonia plant. The efficiency and operational stability of the unit directly affect the output of synthesis ammonia and the economic benefits of the enterprise.

The selection of compressor is closely related to the size of the plant and the synthesis circuit pressure. Chinese small and medium-sized synthesis ammonia enterprises generally use atmospheric gasification, low-pressure purification, medium-pressure refining, high-pressure synthesis, more circuits, compression ratio, and purification of the gas before the impurities, so more reciprocating compressor. Large synthesis ammonia plant is pressurized gasification;medium-pressure synthesis, small synthesis circuit, small compression ratio, so we usually use centrifugal compressors. Relative to the reciprocating compressor, centrifugal compressor has a large handling capacity, smooth operation, small vibration, less wearing parts, normal continuous operation for a long time.Steam turbine can be used to drive directly, high thermal efficiency, low operating costs, no lubricating oil in the cylinder, the gas will not be contaminated and so on. Therefore, large-scale synthesis ammonia production units are used in single-axis or multi-axis centrifugal machine.
