Hydrogenation unit technology

In order to reduce SOx and other harmful substances produced in the combustion process of oil products, countries in the world constantly update the oil standards. These continuously upgraded oil quality requirements make refiners constantly build hydrogenation units or renovate existing units, and the hydrogenation capacity continues to improve, the proportion of hydrogenation units in the whole plant's energy consumption and operating costs increases significantly.


Choose energy-saving technology

Different technology corresponds to different process principles and process setup, which has a fundamental role in determining the energy consumption of the device. In the technical selection of the device, energy-saving technology should be preferred according to the nature of feedstock to be processed and product requirements. Taking diesel hydrofining unit as an example, the continuous liquid phase hydrofining process developed by China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation Limited (SINOPEC) can reduce the energy consumption of the unit by more than 25% compared with the conventional drip bed process.


①In the continuous liquid phase hydrogenation technology, the high pressure circulating hydrogen system is cancelled, which saves the steam and electricity consumption related to circulating hydrogen compressor. Meanwhile, the water injection system and gas desulfurization system change from high pressure to low pressure system correspondingly, and the power consumption decreases significantly.Although the newly added circulating oil pump flow is large, but the head is low, the power consumption is small.


②In the continuous liquid phase hydrogenation technology, the inlet temperature of the reactor depends on the direct mixing of high temperature circulating oil and the outlet medium of the heating furnace, and the heat utilization efficiency is high, which eliminates the problem of heat efficiency of the heat exchanger caused by the traditional drip bed technology.


③Under the condition that the initial reaction temperature (reactor inlet temperature) is the same, high temperature circulating oil is added to the inlet of the continuous liquid phase hydrogenation reactor, so the outlet temperature of the reaction feed heating furnace is required to be lower than that of the conventional drip bed process, the low hydrogen-oil ratio makes the outlet vaporization rate of the heating furnace low,  the fuel consumption is significantly reduced.
