Methanation is the reverse reverberation of methane vapor conversion, so the catalyst for methanation reverberation is the same as the catalyst for steam conversion, with nickel as the active component. However, methanation reverberation takes place at a lower temperature, and the catalyst needs higher activity.
Methanation catalysts have a higher nickel content, usually 15~35%(nickel), and sometimes need to participate in rare earth elements as accelerators. In order to make the catalyst can withstand higher temperature rise, nickel is usually used as a refractory material as the carrier, and all exist in the form of nickel oxide. The catalyst can be pressed or made into a ball, with a particle size between 4~6mm.
A pilot methanation unit with a daily processing capacity of 12000m3 gas was set up in the water and gas two-stage furnace site of Qinhuangdao Gas Works, and the 1000h intermediate test was completed in Shunsui. The intermediate test results are as follows:
(1) The two-stage furnace water gas methanation process is reasonably designed, and the three-stage purification process of crude desulfurization, hydropurification and fine desulfurization meets the requirements of the methanation catalyst for the raw gas. The H2/C0 ratio in the gas is adjusted by one-sided transformation, so as to prevent the bed carbon accumulation and ensure the normal methanation process.
(2) The methanation adopts four sections of adiabatic bed for one pass, simple equipment, low investment and easy operation.
(3) Methanation catalyst has high activity, good heat resistance, low activation temperature, XCO is 95%, SCH4 is 65%, after 1000h life test, the activity does not change at all, the specific appearance volume does not change at all, estimated service life of up to one year.
