Precautions for loading Tail Gas Hydrogenation Catalysts

Mar. 27, 2023

Catalyst loading should be carried out under dry conditions, avoid loading catalyst in rainy weather or in a very humid environment to avoid affecting the strength.
1) Before filling the catalyst, the reactor must be cleaned, the castor plate must be installed in position, 8-10 mesh stainless steel wire mesh must be laid, 10cm high Φ20mm porcelain balls and 5cm high Φ8~10mm porcelain balls must be stacked and levelled, then the catalyst must be filled, the castor plate and wire mesh must be used for at least 3 years.
2) The catalyst is poured out from the barrel and if more fines are found, it needs to be sieved by a sieve of 10 mesh or more before it can be used. When filling, the catalyst should be placed in a cloth bag before being lifted into the reactor, with the catalyst falling to a height no greater than 50cm.
3) The catalyst should be paved with wooden boards and the filler must stand on the paved boards in the catalyst bed to carry out the filling operation. After the catalyst has been filled to a predetermined height, the surface of the catalyst should be smoothed with wooden tools and a 10cm layer of 8-10mm porcelain balls should be placed on top to slow down the impact of the airflow on the catalyst surface.
4) The catalyst should be sealed immediately after filling and water vapour and process gas should be avoided from entering the reactor before starting.
Before starting the process, the reactor should be cleaned with dry air to remove the bed powder.
