Recently, the "36,000 tons/year methanol-to-aromatics (S-MTA) complete technology pilot test project" which is undertaken by the Shanghai Research Institute has been passed the appraisal organized by the Science and Technology Department of the group company."China Chemical Industry News", “Sinopec News Network”, “Sinopec Mobile News” and other media reported.
The appraisal opinion believes that the complete set of technology has the advantages of stable catalyst performance, high yield of aromatics, high selectivity of BTX and PX, the technical indicators of which are generally at the international leading level.
The technology is jointly researched and developed by a research team composed of Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute, engineering construction company and Yanshan Petrochemical. After more than ten years of continuous research, the project team has developed key technologies for molecular sieve surface treatment, inhibition of catalyst metal migration and skeleton dealumination. They created S-MTA fluidized bed catalyst with high stability and high aromatics selectivity. At the same time, it also innovatively developed the turbulent bed reaction + low temperature two-stage regeneration MTA fluidized bed process. They integrated fixed-bed light hydrocarbon aromatization process. It is forming a complete set of S-MTA technology.
In 2021, Yanshan Petrochemical's 36,000-ton/year S-MTA unit will be successfully started up at one time.Continuous and stable operation is for 727 hours, each process parameter meets the design requirements, and the total yield of aromatic hydrocarbon carbon base reaches 78.7%.The project applied for 62 Chinese invention patents, 45 of which were authorized; applied for 26 foreign-related patents, of which 25 were authorized.
The successful development of this technology provides a design basis for the development and engineering design of the million-ton S-MTA complete set of technologies. It has laid a foundation for promoting the clean utilization of coal resources in our country and promote the technological progress of efficient production of aromatics from coal instead of oil.
